General Contractor Serving Iowa City, IA
Iowa City, IA General Contractor for Home Remodeling and Custom Decks
Kitchen, bathroom, and basement remodeling, plus custom decks built for real Iowa weather, for homes across Iowa City.
Home Renovation and Remodeling Across Iowa City
Iowa City has one of the oldest and most varied housing stocks in the Quad Cities region, and that shows in the remodeling calls we get. Near downtown and the University of Iowa campus, we're often updating century-old homes with cramped bathrooms and kitchens that haven't changed since the 1960s. We treat every home here, from a Manville Heights bungalow to a Lake Ridge rambler, with the same care we'd give our own.
Out toward Lake Ridge, Court Hill, and the newer streets closer to Coralville, the work tends to lean toward basement finishing and whole-home remodeling as growing families need more usable square footage. Either way, our crew works around the realities of this town, narrow lots near the Ped Mall, older electrical and plumbing behind the walls, and a housing market where a well-done remodel adds real resale value fast.
We also field a steady stream of deck requests from folks along the Iowa River corridor and the neighborhoods near City Park, where homeowners want a sturdy outdoor space to enjoy during the short but intense Iowa summer. As a home improvement contractor who's worked across Johnson County, we know what it takes to get a project done right the first time.

Houck's Construction was great! I needed soffit repairs and new siding on a chimney box on my house. They were able to meet at a great time and the work was done very well and the material was solid quality. Prices were very fair and work was done promptly when materials arrived. I would use them again for any work I need done.
